hunter gatherer designs is a registered provider of Professional Development Training for children services and schooling staff, as recognised by the the South Australian Department of Education and Children's Services (DECS). hgd is able to adapt workshops to your needs and will provide accredited training for teachers.

Biodiversity Workshops for Educators
Biodiversity Education Workshops, designed and facilitated by hunter gatherer designs for the S.A. Urban Forest Biodiversity Program.

The program developed by hunter gatherer designs included biodiversity-related activities, which linked to each of the Essential Learnings, outlined in the SA curriculum framework, SACSA. Workshops were held in Adelaide and schools on the Eyre Peninsula, with over 220 participants in total.

Introduction to the Bokashi Way of Composting
The Bokashi Composting Workshop offers a range of learning outcomes for the whole school, from effectively dealing with food waste in the classroom and canteen, to developing an understanding of the nutrient cycle and the role of microorganisms in the soil. Some schools have established trial sites in gardens to compare the difference between this compost and other conventional composts. Future opportunities include enterprise education programs to develop and market this alternative method of composting to their wider community. This program can be combined with the following workshop:

Bokashi Mix Making for Educators
This workshop leads participants through the step by step process of making bokashi mix. Teachers will be provided with the information and skills to repeat the process with their students to develop a greater self sufficiency and understanding of the Bokashi composting process.
